Be YOU.

*Here a scene takes place in a thriller movie. Imagine a man trapped in an apartment by himself with a killer hunting him down*

The scene begins with a man named “Runner” who is playing video games in his household. He is by himself and he hears someone knocking at the door. Runner goes downstairs and checks the door. He opens the door and nobody is there.

Runner: Hello?

Runner heads back upstairs, enters his bedroom, puts on his headset, and starts to play video games again. After 2 minutes go by, Runner hears another knock at his door, but with the doorbell ringing as well. Runner goes back downstairs and angrily opens the door.

Runner: Yo!? Who is that? What do you want? (In frustration)

Runner looks to the left, and looks to the right. He stays outside for a minute and then goes back inside. When he closes the door, the lights turn off.

Runner: What the…

When the lights turn off, Runner goes to the kitchen to attempt to turn on the light.

Runner: I just paid my bill, this is crazy. This is insane the weekend just hit and I have to do real with this?.. Whatever, I just need to call my landlord.

When Runner calls his landlord, the phone disconnects. But, receives a call from an unknown number.

Runner: What’s up with my phone? Alright I don’t know who this is, but maybe he can help me and tell me what in the world is going on right now…

Runner answers the phone.

Runner: Hello? Hello? Who is this?

A man begins to speak with him with a deep voice, announcing himself as the Hunter and explaining that he knows him and what he has done.

Hunter: You have ten minutes to live.

Hunter immediately blockades all exits (doors and windows)

Runner: Yo!! What is happening? Why are you doing this? Turn this off!! Make this stop!

Runner attempts to open his front door and it is locked. He then runs to the windows and tries to open it to scream for help, but they are crammed shut.

Hunter: The doors are locked and the windows are barricaded.

Runner: No Sh**!!

Hunter: Listen to me very carefully. You have 9 minutes left to live.

Runner: I’m going to call the COPS right now. Shut up! Shut up!!

Runner hangs up the phone and attempts to call 911. He is connected to an operator

911 Operator: 911 can you tell me your name and your location please?

Runner: Hello!? Hello!? Yes there is a man…. A man who is calling me and he locked all my doors and windows… He said I have 9 minutes to live… Send cops here right now!!

911 Operator: Okay, can you tell me your location please?

Runner: I live at 4617 Red Lane Road, Apartment 12! I live in an apartment complex and my code is 0808! Come soon!!

911 Operator: You now have 7 minutes to live (Operator changes voice and hangs up immediately

Runner drops to his knees and begins to cry

Runner: Why!? What did I do? (panting and sobbing)

Hunter calls him back and Runner answers immediately.

Hunter: You now have 6 minutes to live. Listen to me carefully. Do I have your attention now?

Runner: Yes man! What do you want? Anything!

Hunter: You have 5 minutes to decide. 5 minutes to decide whether you die, or someone else dies. Listen very carefully.

Runner: Okay.. Okay.. (panting and moving around his apartment)

Hunter: Go upstairs and go into your bathroom. Open up the top hatch of your toilet and wait for instructions.

Runner runs upstairs and goes inside of the bathroom. He opens up the top hatch of his toilet and finds a silenced pistol.

Runner: WHAT!!

Hunter: You have 4 minutes left to live. Grab the pistol.

Runner: Okay… Shut up!! I grabbed it.. What do you want me to do?!

Hunter: I want you to leave your apartment and go to your neighbors apartment and kill her dog.

Runner: What!? I can’t do that.. That’s murder! I’ll get caught and I’ll go to jail?

Hunter: You have three minutes to live. I have a .50 cal sniper pointer directly at your head.

Runner looks in the mirror and sees a red dot aimed at his forehead. Runner runs downstairs, leaves his apartment, and knocks on the neighbors door aimlessly.

Runner: YO Open UP the door right now!! I need you to open up this door right now!!

The neighbor answers the door and Runners points the gun right at his neighbor

Neighbor: Runner!?! What are you doing?? What?? This isn’t YOU. Please put the GUN DOWN!

Runner: I’m SO SORRY. I can’t explain, but you need to move.

Neighbor immediately shuts the door and runners block it with his body and forces his way inside of the apartment.

Runner: Where the f*** is your dog?

Neighbor: What… What?? (nervously panics and falls to the ground)

Runner: WHERE THE F*** IS YOUR DOG!

Neighbor: It’s… It’s.. is my bedroom.. Upstairs!! (nervously)

Runner sprints upstairs to find the dog. Runner points the gun directly at the dog and Neighbor runs behind him.

Neighbor: DON’T RUNNER. PLEASE NOT MY DOG. HE’S ALL I GOT. YOU KNOW I LOST MY SON LAST YEAR. PLEASE DON’T.

Runner: SHUT THE F*** UP! This doesn’t involve you! This is LIFE or DEATH

Neighbor: THIS DOES INVOLVE ME! IT’S MY DOG!

Runner points the gun at neighbor and she falls to her knees pleading for her life.

Neighbor: Runner please!! Don’t kill me!!

Runner: SHUT UP! SHUT UP! I have to do this!!

When Runners points the gun at the door. He hears swat members enter neighbors apartment and makes there way upstairs.

SWAT OFFICER: POLICE PUT YOUR GUN DOWN NOW!

Runner: You don’t understand!! I’m going to die!!

SWAT OFFICER: SON IF YOU DON’T PUT YOUR GUN DOWN, YOU WILL DIE. YOU HAVE 10 SECONDS

Runner: I’m sorry, I have to do this or I die!!

The scene goes to slow motion, and when Runner attempts to shoot the dog, water comes out of the gun, and the SWAT shoot and kill Runner. Runner falls to the ground unconscious, Neighbor runs and grabs her dog, and the scene returns to Runner’s apartment.

The phone calls rings and Hunter leaves a message.

Hunter: I was never going to kill you. I just wanted to see far you were willing to go kid. You thought the dog was the problem… Really you were the problem.. We had to silence you. Now you are forever silenced.

The scene ends with silence, no music, and the scenery turns black and white.
