I know what you’re thinking. Why in the world is this the title? Well.. you’re here right? Something about death intrigued you. Let’s get right to it then. How much longer do you think you will live for? And be honest with yourself. Ask yourself how old you are and then honestly tell yourself how long you will live for. Death seems to be such a touchy topic for people. It’s a topic that many people tend to avoid because it can be triggering, traumatizing, and difficult to face. Well, if you’re 30 years old and you want to be a centenarian- guess what. You only have 70 summers left dude. Oh yeah I forgot, I’m 30 years old. And I actually want to be a centenarian. To the individuals out there, or to the ones that don’t know what a centenarian is- let me save you a google search. A centenarian is an individual that lives to be 100 years or older.
Think about that number for a second. God forbid I make it 70 summers. That’s not that much time if you think about it. According to reports and statistics, in the year of 2025, the average life expectancy of an adult is 79.4 years of age in the United States. The average expectancy of a female lives 5 years more than the male. You can think of this in a few different ways so let me break this down for you. If you’re a male let’s say you make it to 79 all the while the female makes it to 84. Or the male can make it to 74 and let’s just assume the female makes it to 79. I truly hope you can make it this far. So now that you know this. Repeat your age again. I want you to take your age and pick one of these two scenarios. I want you to subtract your projected age of life and your current age. Take a good look at your number. According to data, this is how much time you have left to live here. Crazy right? How do you feel? It probably makes you look at all of this different. I get it. I feel the same way. You’re not alone in this feeling. But, please don’t be scared. This is actually the time you want to truly take a long look at your lives and ask some honest questions. Will I make that far? Do my daily habits enable me to live that long? Why or why not? Well, if not let me offer some insight to you.
How many times do you go on cigarette breaks at work? How many times daily do you pick up that vape? How many times do you crack open the energy drink on a daily basis? How many times do you eat out daily? How many times do you exercise throughout the week? How many times do you drink alcohol during the week and weekends? Do you take steroids? Do you use illegal drugs? Be honest with yourself. This is a judge free zone- I am not here to judge you. I want you to answer these questions brutally honest. If you answered yes to any of these questions, it’s not your fault, it’s your environment’s fault. Let me explain why. The United States is designed to kill you daily. With what grocery stores, gas stations, corner stores, dollar stores, bodegas, supermarkets, or however you want to call them; they are all designed to kill you. The United States has access to fatal products. We sell soda with battery acid in it. Think about that. Good ole’ Mountain Dew. A teenagers dream at midnight. Yup, that teenage drink has battery acid in it. And they continue to make it. And you’re drinking it! The number of liquors store we have in our communities is overwhelming. In Auburn NY alone, I can count more liquor stores than healthy food stores. Insane. Additionally, did you know that United States is the highest drug consumption country in the world? There are close to 200 countries in the world, and we seem to be NUMBER ONE. Yikes. The access to drugs is overwhelming throughout the country. So believe me, when you have bad habits- it’s because the United States doesn’t value your health, wellness, and longevity.
Many countries in Asia actually ban many of these “substances” in their countries. Some foods and beverages are a complete afterthought when being placed on the shelves for people to buy. This clearly shows that countries outside of the United States value these people. These countries invest into there citizens. However, this doesn’t mean that it’s impossible to be healthy in the United States. Remember what I said in my first post? Well, if you don’t let me remind you. There’s almost a way out of every situation. You just refuse to believe it. Have you ever heard of blue zones? If not let me explain. A blue zone is a place located in the world where people live close to 100 years old in age with significantly lower rates in chronic disease. Blue zones in the world vary based upon healthy routines such as daily exercise, plant-based diets or calorie deficit diets, moderation of alcohol or sometimes no alcohol at all, strong bonds, friendships and communities, daily meditation, strong religious/spiritual ties, and spending time with their loved ones without the use of technology. All of which give people in these blue zones a purpose. A purpose to value their own health and wellness! Which in turn creates longevity. The five blue zones in the world include Okinawa, Japan, Sardinia, Italy, Nicoya, Costa Rica, Ikaria, Greece, and Loma Linda, California. In these five blue zones, these communities of people practice a different set of routines, but the theme is the same. Eat well, exercise daily, form strong bonds within your community, maintain a spiritual/religious tie, spend time with people without being glued to your phones, and being mindful of your alcohol/smoking use.
Have you ever seen the movie the Death Note? Well, to explain it in small terms- It’s about a man who finds access to a death book. Whoever the writer is can write any name in that book and explain how this individual will die. When this is performed, Death does it’s job exactly how it is written in the death book. Have you ever seen Final Destination? I will also explain this in small- terms, maybe even smaller. You can’t escape death. Death just finds you. Final Destination is very over the top with many of their fictional deaths, but the theme is clear. Sometimes it’s fated for you to die. Maybe, not as horrible as they did, but we must face the fact that every single one of you is going to die. This blogger will eventually stop posting blogs because I will be dead. Reader- you too will die. Remember when Oprah said “You get a car, you get a car, you get a car!” Yeah, well let Mr. Creator say his own saying in dark times. “You’re going to die, you’re going to die, you’re going to die!” I know that was pretty dark, but I hope this woke you up. Have you ever seen I am Legend? The movie is about a virus that takes out all of humanity and turns people into blood-sucking zombies. Will Smith finds himself alone in majority of the movie because he cannot find any survivors. Until one day, he finds a survivor- who happens to be a woman. Well in one scene, Will Smith absolutely loses his mind on this poor woman who has faith in the restoration of humanity. To quote him, he says “Every single person that you or I has ever known is dead!” You get the idea now. Every single person you will ever come into contact with will die. You’re favorite musicians, you’re favorite athletes, you’re parents, you’re animals, and everything you love will die. I know. That is very tough to accept. Trust me, Kobe Bryant was my idol. The one person I never thought would die, in fact died. Crazy. I want you to take a good look at yourself, your loved ones, and all of the people you identify as your support systems. Are you truly living? Sometimes, we are truly living, but dying at the same time. With not prioritizing our health to live longer lives. To not have true purpose in this life. Not going on enough outings to explore the world. Not picking up the phone to call our friends and family members. Not spending enough time with our loved ones. If you’re still here. Believe me, you have time. You can make a choice.
Let me ask you again. Are you truly living? Do you think you will make it to 74? Do you think you will make it to 79? Do you think you will make it to 84? Do you think you will make it to 100? Why or why not? Live, but be smart. Have purpose. These five blue zones on Earth are people. Just like you and I. They have made a choice. To commit to purpose. Are you lacking purpose? What are your passions? Are you chasing your passions? Are you committed to yourself or are you settling? Are you in a happy relationship? Are you sober? Are you generally healthy? Are you involved in communities? Do you sleep well? Do you unplug and turn off technology? Do you spend time with family and friends? Let me remind you. There is an answer for all of this. There is a way out of every situation. The choice is yours. Let me say this too. Have grace for others. Be quick to forgive. It’s never good to live angry. Do you ever notice that angry people tend to not live long lives? These individuals resort to alcohol, drugs, and sometimes have involvement with the law. Maybe you know some of these people. Maybe some of these people were family and friends. Its truly sad. We grew up with some of these people and now they are unrecognizable. What a shame. But, for your case this can be different. Again, it’s your decision.
Read this again to yourself. Live, but be smart. All of this is temporary. I hope you can understand this now. You and I will be gone one day. I know it sucks, no one wants to leave, but it’s the truth. I hope you can form you’re own healthy routine and value your life. Just because the United States doesn’t care, does not mean that you need to adapt this same mindset- the choice is yours. In my greatest Nas impression need I say, “The World Is Yours”. Make that phone call to your friend. Be spontaneous about it too. Make it random, make it fun. Take that trip you always wanted to take. Whether it be with a friend, you’re family, or you’re significant other. TAKE A SOLO TRIP if no-one chooses to tag along with you! Do something that’s uncomfortable for you- like auditioning for a movie, writing a book, going back to college for what you are TRULY PASSION ABOUT. Go spark a conversation with a random person you’re attracted to. What’s the worst they can say? No? Ask enough to the right person and someone will say YES. Get more involved in the community. Join a running club, a boxing club, or a book club. Wanna jump? Go skydiving. Go parasailing. Take on your Forrest Gump journey and run across the country. Train for a 5k. Train for a marathon. Have you ever wanted to move to your dream city? Find a roommate that’s looking for an additional person and take that leap. If you’re still finding excuses through this all and you seem to have a no for all of these problems then maybe you need to look inward. Maybe you need to stop blaming everyone else and look at yourself in the mirror. Remember even if you don’t do that- the choice will always be yours to whether you want to stay in your situation or level up. And always remember too. No one is ever telling you how to feel or deal with an experience. All of this is temporary. Is it really that big of a deal? Does it really matter that much to you? You have maybe 30, 40, 50, or 60 summers left. That’s not a long time. Some people you know may not even make it to 30. Death is our shadow. Are you dying? Or are you truly living? See you at 100.
From, Mr. Creator
