Have you ever thought about starting over? Do you feel burned out at your job? Do you feel like you need to move to a new location? Do you feel that you lack purpose? Well, if you do. You are not alone. Don’t feel bad. I bet you a million other people feel the same way as you do.

The movie “Leave The World Behind” is very interesting to me. This movie is about technology essentially controlling us and us relying on it too much. In the movie, the United States seems to be in a global war with multiple countries in whom we have upset. These countries have seemed to have found a way to neutralize us in the simplest way possible. Eliminate our technology and attack our communication systems. We see little by little in the film that people start to panic when we do not have access to technology. I don’t want to give away the ending, but I highly encourage you to watch the film if you have not seen it. It is on Netflix and it is thriller-based film. I find this movie very interesting because there are so many themes in this movie that jump out to me. I can name a few. To begin, things can be taken away quickly from us. The same things that we work so hard for, we can lose in a blink of an eye. Especially in today’s social media driven age where one mistake seems to ruin people or cancel people. It’s sad. It also makes me realize how much we rely on technology and how inadequate we are to the basic skills of the real world. To those who have watched the movie it’s more of a if you know you know, but to the ones that have not watched it, I highly encourage you to watch it. It will make you look at life completely different.
Some of you may be thinking, what in the world does this have to do with how you started this blog? Let me explain reader. Remember what I just said. You can lose things so fast and work your entire life for these things. The common theme is that time passes by. Time doesn’t wait for anyone. I know we can all relate to this. Some of you are parents and you’re constantly asking yourself “How did my child grow so big, so fast… Where does the time go”? Some of you are now 30 and you remember being at some undergraduate university frat party doing God knows what. No worries. Your secret is safe with me. Well, now you’re in the real world and you don’t have time to do anything because you’re working 50 hours a week and you graduated college 8 years ago. Sound like you? I get it. I was once you. And if I am not you, I am sure at one point in my life I will be you. Nonetheless, if you’re still here that is a blessing. You’re breathing. That’s an opportunity. You have been given another day of life. Which is something we should never take for granted.

I remember going into High School. I was so scared. Scared for my life. I wasn’t even 5 feet tall. I was good at sports, but I still felt like I was going to get bullied because everybody was so much taller than me and I was ethnically different than most people in my class. That alone was a struggle. I’ll never forget when my late great Uncle told me something very simple that stuck with me for the rest of my life. “Shoot for the stars”. Many people will think that this is so cliche. But it’s true. I remember telling myself I always wanted to be an actor and be in a movie. I never wanted to be Matt Damon or Mark Wahlberg, but I wanted to at least be able to be on set for a film. For some reason, I just always aimed high. It was because of what my uncle said to me. I think we should all set the bar high. Think about it. Think about where you’re at in life. I don’t think anybody truly cares if you fail. People may say things about you or laugh about it in the moment. But, all in all people do not care. Take the risk. Sometimes you have to fail to become successful. In 2023, for the first time in my life I was laid off from my job. I was embarrassed to tell people in my life. A recent college graduate being laid off? Yeah… I’m going to hold onto that one and keep that lowkey. For a while I was upset. I was bitter. But, then I remembered what my uncle told me. I remember where my dreams lie ahead of me. Well, in that same year I was in two movies. I ended up traveling to California. I ended up networking with great people. I started vlogging. And I realized in that moment that I found myself. I found myself through failure and I made the best out of that situation.
I know people have gone through much worse than I have. Some of you have lost your homes, some of you have lost your businesses, some of you have lost things that are indescribable to this day that most may not be able to understand you. Some of you rebounded. Some of you have not. To the ones that have rebounded well and remain resilient I salute you entirely. To the ones that are still finding their way, I pray that you find reassurance and strength to get you in the right direction starting tomorrow.
I say Leave It All Behind for one reason. And one reason only. You owe it to yourself. You only have one life. You may as well maximize it in the best way possible. The worst thing in life is regret. Ladies and Gentlemen there will be a day in this lifetime where you and I will be senior citizens. That’s okay. We get to live longer. We get to live to see evolution. We get to see things change, grow, and blossom. That’s how we should all be looking at all of this.
Chase your dreams. You can literally do anything. All it takes is 15 minutes a day. You will be surprised how much you can accomplish if you dedicate 15 minutes a day every single day of the year for an entire year. 15 minutes ladies and gentlemen. What do you want to do? Do you want to learn a new language? Do you want to start up a clothing brand? Do you want to start your career as a musician? Do you want to learn a new instrument? Do you want to start writing a book? Do you want to start an online business? Do you want to learn real estate? Do you want to learn how to move to a new state and start a new life? All it takes is 15 minutes a day everyone. It’s possible. And everyone is capable of doing it.

I think sometimes we get so caught up in certain routines that we don’t even realize how much has passed by. We may be taking the same route to work every single day and not realize that 15 years has went by where all we know is work, home, sleep, repeat. Are you truly happy with that lifestyle? Well, if you are, salute to you. I wouldn’t be. If I didn’t have to work, I surely wouldn’t have to. I would be where Tom Anderson is, and live life retired at a young age. To those of you who don’t know Tom Anderson is- he is the creator of Myspace. To those of you that do not know what Myspace is, it was pretty much what Facebook was before Facebook started.
How would it feel if you quit your job that you didn’t enjoy anymore? How would it feel if you moved to that dream state that you always dreamt of? How would it feel to start up that business that you always wanted to start? How it would feel to change your career path at an older age?
Ask yourself those questions and sit with that feeling. It would probably feel rewarding right? What’s stopping you? What’s truly stopping you? Lack of time? Lack of motivation? Confused? Overwhelmed on where to start? Start off with the simplest thing. Build from there. Start with one idea. Grow and focus on one idea at a time. 15 minutes a day. 365 days of the year. You’ll be shocked with yourself to envision what you just accomplished.
I love the movie “Ready Player One”. The movie was directed by the great Steven Spielberg. I love everything about it. It’s about a virtual-reality game that allows any player in the game to be whoever they want to be. It’s an open world-game. In the main character’s real-world, he is a nobody. But, in the video game he is a king. Everybody can feel that way. By the end of the movie, we learn that video games aren’t who we are. That WE CAN in FACT be whoever we want to be in this world. Because this world is real. That movie taught me a valuable lesson. To spend time with the people you love the most. You’re significant other. You’re family. You’re children. Go catch a conversation or a hang out with that person you have a crush on! Have fun. Because our time is limited. And we should do everything possible to maximize our time here.
Lastly, don’t forget to smile. Be gentle with yourself. Don’t take all of this too serious. Laugh at your pain. Laugh at your failures. Learn to adopt a sense of humor. This life can tear you down pretty quickly. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Some of the greatest icons in the world rebounded pretty well off of their failures. If they can. Why can’t you? Keep that in mind. Keep that smile on you- it looks pretty darn good on you.

Much love,
Mr. Creator.
