The Creator Touches The Surface

Be YOU.

You don’t even know it, but you’re shining. We’re going to make it- we were born to be legacy. Have you heard this lately? Well, if you haven’t do me a favor. And this say out loud to yourself. I watched a video the other day called “Wasted Talent”. The starring man in the video is named Lilo Brancato Jr. To the ones that do not know who he is, he played as the main character in “A Bronx Tale”. His name in the movie is Calogero, but they called him C for short. It is interesting, in the movie, the theme of the movie is wasted talent- to be smart. To be creative. To make it out. To do the opposite of what the streets want you to do. To essentially stay away from gangs, drugs, and violence. In the end of the movie, C becomes a narrator in third person and talks about wasted talent. To not waste your life- to become someone or something. Ironic enough, this man in real life ended up wasting his talent. He went to prison for involvement in a murder of an off-duty police officer in New York City. Lilo was on drugs at the time, and he ended up throwing his life away. He ultimately became a victim of tremendous talent and opportunity wasted. He ended up turning his life around and shares his story on multiple platforms to inspire individuals to stay away from drugs and to become a productive individual in society. If you haven’t heard of Lilo Brancato Jr have you ever heard of someone you know that is a victim of these circumstances? Maybe this was your friend, a family member, a co-worker, an acquaintance, or someone you went to school with. I would almost guarantee that if you were to have a face-to-face conversation with that person you know they would most likely say they regret what they did to throw their life away.

We live in a very judgment, opinion-based, and expressive society. Where one mistake, can ultimately lead to your failure. It’s unfortunate, because none of us are perfect. We have all lied. We have all broken the law. And at one point in time, we asked for forgiveness and grace. It’s unfair to close that door on individuals who are asking us for grace and forgiveness. Nonetheless, we always have a second chance in life. A second chance to redemption. Maybe you’re experiencing financial complications. Maybe you’re business isn’t doing as well as you thought it would be. Maybe you didn’t get into that college that you dreamed so highly of. Maybe you didn’t land that job that you told you’re friends, family members, and co-workers about. Maybe you’re experiencing complications in your relationship. Maybe you recently ended a relationship with your significant other. Maybe you lost a close friend or family member to death. Maybe you’re best friend just moved away. Maybe you moved to an entirely new city and you’re nervous about change. Whatever you’re experiencing- I can almost ensure you that many can connect with your experience. You are not alone in this journey. I can almost guarantee you, that there were moments in their lives after this experience that either defined them or crushed them. Regardless of the outcome- it passed. Just like everything else in life does. Feelings are temporary. Emotions are temporary. All of this entirety of life is temporary. Let me say this again to you. You don’t even know it, but you’re shining.

We were all brought here to create. Every single one of us creates everyday without even realizing it. We create our recipes with the food that we eat every day. We create our own routines that we have followed for years without even realizing we’re stuck in them. We create our own wardrobes- based on our individualized styles and clothing tastes. The list goes on and on. Have you ever thought about what you were born to do? Or why you are here? I’m talking outside of our 9-5 jobs or whatever schedule you are on. It’s interesting… I always find it weird that when you and I run into random strangers; that we always identify our jobs of who we are and what we do. Do you ever notice that? Do you remember when you met someone new and they asked about who you are.. Did you list your job title first? Did you say that you’re a dental assistance, a social worker, a lawyer, a retail worker, or work in the food industry? Don’t worry.. Again, you’re not alone in this journey. Many can relate to you. I’ve learned to re-wire my own brain. I’ve learned to say “I’m a human being- that lives in this society- that loves art, film, fitness, and traveling. These are my passions- and these are segments of my life that make me”. Sounds weird right? Well because it is something new and completely different to who we are. Society has created identities within us that don’t allow us to become who we are. And express what we are truly are passionate about. It’s kinda like we are robots of some sort. I want you to think about this now and truly envision you meeting a new person. You can close you’re eyes, or do whatever works for you. But, live in this moment. Take a few moments to think about who you truly are. What you truly love to do. Now plant this identity in your head. Live in this conversation. Now, the question is asked. Who are you? What do you do? Now, say you’re answer. Now imagine you being this every day in your life. How would this make you feel? What you be happier? Would you cry tears of joy? Would you feel a huge sense of relief? Would this bring you everything you ever asked for? Would you feel rejoiced?

Whatever emotion you feel. This is who you are. Everyone has a different journey. Don’t compare yourself to others. Be gentle with yourself. All of this is simpler than you think. Just do what you love. Insert yourself around people who are like-minded as you. Do you want to be in a bigger city? Move. Do you want to learn a new profession? Go to college. Looking for a new opportunity? Quit your job. I know what you’re thinking. This all sounds good.. And this sounds easy, but it isn’t that easy. That’s okay. You can feel that way. You can choose to live with that reality. But, no one is ever entitled to tell you how to feel or react to your situation. Some of you have children. Some of you are on a fixed income. Some of you are just barely making ends meet. Maybe you’re in the wrong place. Maybe you’re in the wrong situation. Maybe you’re looking in the wrong place for the right answers. Maybe you haven’t explored options to realize there is a way out of every struggling and troublesome situation. I read a book by Dr. Wayne D Dyer who passed away. A phenomenal author with incredible insight. He wrote a book called the 10 Keys to Inner Peace and Success. I’ll never forget what he said in this book. He stated that there are no justifications for your actions. Nobody is telling you how to feel or deal with an experience. It is on us to respond appropriately with what we have been given. Nobody asks for us to do more work on top of what we already are struggling with, to take on more responsibilities, to be a father, or to look for a new job when you have been laid off. However, it is on us to choose to whether we decide to make a decision in our life to change.

If you’re still here. Thank you. You just touched the surface. You’re about to show the world who you truly are and where you belong. You don’t even know it, but you’re shining.
